Sedgewell Barn’s Valais Blacknose Sheep
karoline
Sex: Female
Date of Birth: 8th February 2023
Nickname: Kazzy
Pedigree name: Middleton Hall Karoline
Any lambs? No
Karoline, whose Mum is Middleton Hall Gabrielle, was bought by Sedgewell Barn from a sale in Skipton in September 2023. With a calm and friendly character, Karoline is very much food driven, just like other members of the Sedgewell Barn Valais Blacknose flock.
Karoline often joins us to country shows for sheep showing because of her good markings for a Valais Blacknose. She is identified by the slightly different head shape compared to the other Sedgewell Barn sheep.
kelpie
Sex: Female
Date of Birth: 7th October 2023
Pedigree name: Whiterigg Kelpie
Any lambs? No
Kelpie joined us from a farm outside Edinburgh, Scotland, where her Mum, Glenstockdale Inga, still lives. Having being owned by Sedgewell Barn since May 2024, Kelpie joined us for her first show at the Great Yorkshire Show just 2 months after. Being the wild child of the flock, Kelpie is definitely one to watch out for around a show ring!
She can be identified by her black markings, with them being more prominent on her tail and just under her ears. Her great wool makes Kelpie show worthy.
A random fact about Kelpie is that her previous owners didn’t realise Kelpie’s Mum was pregnant until a few days before giving birth!

Nickname: Heidi
Pedigree name: Whiterigg Heidelinde

Heidi is Mum to the lovely Lavender, one of Sedgewell Barn’s Valais Blacknose Sheep.
Heidi joined Sedgewell Barn from the same Scottish farm as Kelpie. Having already lambed twice (a male and female), she joined our flock in September 2023, giving birth to the very excitable Lavender in March the following year, who weighed over a whopping 6kg at birth.
Heidi is identifiable through the black spot on her neck.
lavender
Sex: Female
Date of Birth: 21st March 2024
Nickname: Lavie
Pedigree name: Sedgewell Barn Lavender
Any lambs? No
Lavender is the daughter of our Valais Blacknose Sheep, Heidi, and was the first Valais Blacknose lamb to be born at Sedgewell Barn in March 2024 and weighed just over 6kg at birth! When it comes to country shows, Lavender has great potential in the show ring due to her good quality wool, confirmation and markings – we are excited for her showing potential!
Lavender is the second youngest sheep in our Valais Blacknose flock. She is very sweet, but can get excitable like any small child.
